Let’s Meet
Let’s Meet is a new interview project where I introduce the reader to someone new, in the style of an in-person meeting. It’s not my first jump into interviewing, but it’s the first time I do it without a plan. The only structure is that I set a time with someone and we just talk for 20 minutes. It could be someone I already know, or someone I find online from a website, service, a particularly interesting comment on a message board, etc. The topic tends to present itself pretty easily through my style of engaging with people, and pretty soon we’re having a conversation that takes readers through an interesting, uncurated, no-frills look into the person’s life.
The project is inspired by my love for sudden, random connection—projects like David Lynch’s “Interview Project,” “Projection Reviews,” Ridley Scott & Kevin Macdonald’s “Life in a Day,” and the long-gone Mojave Phone Booth. Though not quite as large scale as these, Let’s Meet still preserves the love of meeting new people.
