In January 2024, I started a Substack of unusual love stories. They explore the absurd circumstances, the fantasies, the million-to-one odds, the desperate acts that can precede the start of a relationship. Some stories are gritty reality tales, others are fever dreams with a twist. The only guarantee is you’ll never forget them.

This project runs in “seasons,” with the new one beginning in January 2025. It invites readers to join the experience free or paid, and the social media promotion has a “low-key” feel, a secret between us, with cryptic and tempting stories announcing the new instalments on Instagram. For Valentine’s Day, I curated a playlist for readers based on the moods and themes in the stories from the collection. Subscribers also enjoy buttons and stickers with the collection’s logo.
